The Deep

The Dark
The Deep
The Cold

Sink down, far far below
Where the light is too frightened to show
Where time itself is lost and stands still
Here I stay, I think, I build

Cities of unimagined splendour
Walls high and mighty, ready to defend, or
Boulevards kept clean, swept clean
Polished so every stone has a shine a gleam

Silent libraries, filled with books beyond count
Scrolls and tomes for every subject in huge amount
Carefully placed tables, hidden yet well lit
With rooms to wave arms and shout for a bit

Such things never last in the Deep
No matter how hard I try to keep
They fall and fade as all things do
Only the Cold and the Dark remain true
